[...] Bertrand STIVALET Report CTAC 2008 - 15 - Agent Communication System 3. Aim of the Project Description Globally, the main objective of the task under consideration is to reduce effectively the congestion by contemplating the use of future technology. To realize this objective, the aim of the project is to provide a solution for implementing an agent based ITS system using grid technology to maximise the efficiency of the resulting complex ITS system. The challenge of the project is to provide an intelligent traffic management system. [...]
[...] One grid controller is implemented per grid, as well as sensors in a specific localisation to represent the most frequent situations which usually result in congestion. Different sensors are placed in grids that can implement many different scenarios. In the figure which represents the implementation of agents in the grid (Figure 3.2 many situations in the city and also on the ring road can be observed. Sensors in other grids are positioned to enable scenarios to be implemented using dialogs between two adjacent grid controllers. [...]
[...] Refuse The sender informs the receiver that he refuses to perform the requested action (expressed in the content) and attaches a reason for the refusal to the content. Reject Proposal The sender informs the receiver that he rejects the proposal given by the receiver (expressed in the content) and presents the further proposition which denotes the reason for the rejection. Request The sender requests the receiver to perform some action once. The sender may also request the receiver to perform another communicative act. [...]
[...] -The „fiel&d function includes functions that require convenient access to a roadside location for the deployment of sensors, signals, programmable signs, or other interfaces with travellers (supervising weather, traffic information but also detecting and reacting during an accident, controlling signalisation and carrying out rules and rights of use). -The „communication syste&m function allows travellers, vehicles, centre and field to send data to each other, and allows implementation of the suitable operation and control actions. Many communications types exist within, vehicle-to-vehicle, dedicated short range communications, wide area wireless and fixed-point to fixed-point. Each subsystem is attached with a means of communication. Figure 2.2 ITS management strategy. [...]
[...] Bertrand STIVALET Report CTAC 2008 Agent Communication System The CTAC comprises three complementary applied research themes which have their own portfolios of research programmes and consultancy activities: - Complex Industrial Systems - Transportation Systems - Medical Technologies. Figure 1.1 .2: Control Theory and Application Centre map T@LECOM Ltd T@LECOM is located in the Techno Centre of Coventry University. It is an Application Service Provider that supplies channel-only, wireless communication solutions to enable affordable convergence and mobility strategies. Since its inception in 2002, its vision has been to significantly transform communication with and for remote workers by supplying intelligent and reliable wireless solutions that add real value to any business.
