As a first year student of the INSEEC business school, I had to do an internship in a foreign country during the three month of my summer period. I choose the company First Global Xpress, a small shipping company located in New York doing domestic and international shipping for small to large companies. FGX's biggest clients are COTY, the world's largest fragrance company, and HBO the premier cable channel in the United States and the world. Working with the marketing assistant, my main mission, during this internship, was to take part in the rebranding of the company.

[...] A package is shipped from First Global Xpress's headquarters directly to its final destination. The strategy of the firm is therefore to ship direct. The company has partnerships with more than 100 commercial airlines to be able to do that. All the strategy and promotion of FGX is based on this main point. With shipping direct, the company can cut the miles of package travels by 35% or more. In that case, it guarantee to its clients faster shipments, fewer delivery problems less costs, and greener shipping with 35% fewer carbon emissions. [...]

In 2008, FGX launched ShipGreener.com, the company's blog site that is documenting its conversion to a greener shipper. It was difficult for the company which is pretty small and for the team which is always busy, to manage every interns and to spend time with each one. However, it was partly a good point because in that case we had to work in team with helping each other and it was very useful. It was also sometimes difficult to adapt to the environment and different methods of work. [...]

By writing articles for the blog and searching information, reading articles on the web, it helped me to learn lot of new words and improve my vocabulary. By listening people in the company and speaking on the phone with other firms, I improved my pronunciation. It was really helpful. Concerning my job, I helped the marketing assistant a lot, with doing for her some report and giving her a lot of recommendations about how the company can become greener, how to improve the blog, to make it looks better and the web site to make it more powerful.
